Since the introduction of BBCOR and USA sanctioned baseball bats, home runs have been cut by 55%. The reasoning for this is because bat manufacturers have inserted a metal ring/restriction plate that sits where the "sweet spot" of the bats is. By removing this ring, it allows the barrel to flex freely which will increase not only the exit speed but increase the distance the ball will travel. A BBCOR bat without the restrictor plate will perform like a BESR baseball bat.
